Abstract
Tubal anastomosis traditionally has been performed under microscopic view via laparotorny. Recent advances inn the developmentof the video monitoring system, microsurgical equipment and surgical technique enable us to perform tubal anastomosis under laparoscopy.
It has been acknowledged that the laparoscopic approach yields several important advantages, such as less postoperative discomfort and complications, a shorter recovery time, and earlier resumption of normal activities. However, the laparoscopic approach is more difficult to perform than laparosomy.
The authors present 74 cases of laparoscopic microsurgical tubal anastomosis performed between Demember 1993 and September 1995 in which the surgical procedure was mainly identical to the microsurgical tuba] anastomosis technique by laparotomv.
The overall pregnancy rate was 81.2(56/69) and 39 patients already have delivered healthy offspring. Pregnancy in 12 patients in ongoing and 3 case ended in abortion. There was 2 cases of ectopic pregnancy.
Considering high pregnancy rate in our experience, the laparoscopic microsurgical tubal anastomosis certainly would benefit the patient with its various advantages and this technique could be an alternative procedure to microsurgical laparotomv in patients requesting reversal of sterilization.
